To me, these are all indications that those involved in the editing process do not have very extensive (or qualitative) academic backgrounds. This is of particular concern, first, because it raises questions regarding care taken during the research process; second, because academia and the media are controlled by the secular world. Any atheistic professor, for example, could use what I just described to completely discredit the works; by extension, faith. Whether we like it or not, academic respectability is important.For a quick example of what I am referring to, give careful analytic attention to the works’ description on the back cover of both volumes; also the spacing between book and chapter headers within and throughout the main bodies of text. Otherwise, and sincerely, I appreciate the editor's effort toward providing all-in-one access to these important documents.

I am glad that someone took the time to compile these. I have enjoyed reading this. It filled in a lot of the gaps about things I was wondering. For example, I'm a little miffed that after growing up in a Christian school, no one there ever thought to mention to us where the historical basis of Hanukkah came from, which is also in these books.

Wow! This seems to be the most comprehensive collection of apocrypha in one book . Outstanding! It will probably take a lifetime to fully read and digest all the material contained within these books.For those truly into Scripture, I would highly recommend obtaining this book. Some of the books contain backstory on Biblical characters and events going on during that time . Truly an eye opening read!

Great to have these missing books to read--some of them were "stories" I've heard of over the years, but assumed they were all supposition because today's King James bible doesn't have them for any of us to see for ourselves. I now have both books--Old and New Testament versions--will definitely read everything.

I want to say Thank You to TheBookler and Co. for selling me this vintage Atlas. I have 2 of them but they're missing pages and its all in bad condition. But this book I got today....OMG!!! Whether some will say its used, this came to me in PERFECT "used" condition. Nothing missing, everything is there...Heck, the pages look fresh!!! I love it. The book to me looks brand new...

i gave the street map of Western Mass to my husband for Christmas and he was so pleased as we have been trying to buy one for some time. he was shocked at the price but i said if it is difficult to buy it is a "hot" item. we will take it with us on our "back roading" summers!

This atlas is in excellent condition for being used. It is easy to read with larger maps. It is much more up to date, with all the new streets everywhere, than my 10 year old one.

There is a logical development and the only point with which I would take issue is his apparent advocacy of equal temperament and his assertion that Bach's Das Wohltemperierte Klavier is evidence of Bach's advocacy as well. However, the last part of this rather short book comes across as padding. He describes Schoenberg's approach to composition well, but leaves the reader in little doubt about his own distaste. Beyond that there are very superficial and questionably relevant (and occasionally questionably accurate) detours into physics. The frequency of first person singular pronouns rises steeply. I was left wishing that this short book had actually been even shorter. Because of this, four stars, but only just.

My eight year is loving this book. I read it first before letting her read it and felt there was only a few things that she didn't apply yet to her but she still read the whole book and we talked about things in the book that she questioned and didn't understand. All in all its a great beginner book and the next book we get will explain about babies as this book only talks about the girls body and the changes coming. Excellent book. As a side note, the previous reviews I read before I purchased the book was excellent and is really helpful in making the decision exactly what book to get.

I really believe this book is aimed at such a wide group of ages. I appreciate the style the information is given, but I think the range of subjects it so broad in age. From beginner information about puberty to the not so beginner information about first visit to a gynecologist. Speaks of healthy eating and goes into eating disorders. Talks about stress and about abusing drugs. While it does it very eloquently from an adult's point of view, my daughter being 9 doesn't know what getting high means. I understand that this conversation needs to happen and it will, but when looking for a book about what is happening to her body, I don't believe I need to cover what getting high exactly means (which it doesn't, just expects it's reader to know what getting high is). I know many will tell me I am living in a bubble, and maybe that is true, but she already has so many concerns about growing up and the changes happening. I don't need to give her more to worry about before she is ready to know about. I do believe the author mostly does a good job of explaining the subjects, but the subjects are broad for a specific age group.

I read this book before giving it to my 10 1/2 year old. It's well written and age appropriate. It has some really great information about development, how to take care of your body, and why god hygiene and eating habits are important. My daughter already said "ew!" to the chapter that touches on boys and romance....good to know puberty isn't in full swing just yet for her :)

I gave this to my 9 year old. I read it first. IT goes over body changes without getting into sex. So it's a great book for them to start learning about the changes and letting you wait a little to get into more mature topics.

Great book for us mom's with daughters just starting to experience the changes in life that all of us females go through. Since I had no idea how to talk to her about these things I found this book a helpful reference that makes those changes seem no so scary to her.

I read the book when it arrived. It's very easy to understand. My daughter and I already started talking about some body changes, but this will help her understand more and maybe ask some questions without being embarrassed. Growing up can be a scary thing, and there is no reason for it to be, with simple, honest answers.

I also didn't want anything that talked about sex since she is only 10. This book was perfect. As soon as it came she read it cover to cover and felt comfortable asking me about the subjects in the book. Definitely recommend!

This book helped me through a very tough time in my life.It was so beautiful and adventurous and human and sad and happy and wondrous that, over the course of a month, it lifted me out of the darkness. I rationed it to one chapter a day, which I read on the subway on my way to the office. I looked so forward to it. It's one of those books I found myself thinking about when I wasn't reading it, counting the hours until my special half hour on the subway.I feel like the subject matter mentioned out of context might turn some people off (mostly women): it centralizes around the two jewish boys who created the comic book "The Escapist" (a metaphor for the "Superman" comic) in bustling New York City during and after World War II, a time when America needed a hero. I promise you, though, the characters, the tone, the locations and the deeply human undertones transcend the book's logline. It's really about love, religion, overcoming deep adversity (including nazis, heartbreak and profound loss), loyalty, friendship, death-defying escape acts and edge-of-your-seat excitement and adventure. The word "wondrous" really does capture the feeling the book left me with - a sense of childlike wonder and heart rending emotion simultaneously. It captures the excitement of the time so well that it made me feel I was part of something larger, just by reading it.I hope you'll treat yourself to this (pulitzer winning) epic of human proportions. Regardless of your sex, religion, race or creed, this book has something amazing to give you. It has stuck with me for over ten years and I can't wait to read it again.

To be honest, I struggled through some of the beginning, but am so glad I stuck with it. There is so much in this book about human nature, cruelty, friendship, love, & forgiveness. I read and savored it over time, as I did The Goldfinch or All the Light We Cannot See. As a comic lover whose mother bought her a comic book every trip to the grocery store (& I still have them), I loved how comics and their creation were woven into the fabric of this story. I will be re-reading mine again, looking at their construction with fresh eyes.

This story begins in 1939 in New York City. Sammy Klayman lives as an only child to a single mother, and one day his cousin from Europe - Joe Kavalier shows up at their doorstop after escaping his war torn country. He is alone and scared, and Sammy does not like that this kid is not a member of his household. Quickly, though, Sammy discovers that Joe can draw. Sammy starts to share his love of comic books, and soon he and Joe are working together making their own comic book series. They come up with their hero - the Escapist - based on Joe's past of being able to escape like Houdini. Their comics soon become extremely popular. They have their own series, their own toys, their own radio show. Joe stashes all of the money he makes away so that one day he can bring his entire family to America.Tragedy strikes, and Joe runs away. For 11 years, Sammy and Joe's girl - Rosa - search for him to no avail. It isn't until Rosa's son, Thomas, starts to disappear into New York City, skipping school, to visit a mysterious man at a local magic shop. Soon Joe is back in their lives and everything changes for he and Sammy.This book was.....okay. First of all - it was way too long. Very wordy. I found myself skimming sometimes just because there wasn't a lot of dialogue and too much explanation. It is a writing style - I get it - it just isn't for me. Second of all - I did not like Joe. His character was frustrating and extreme. There was a fairly good size chunk of this book during the part that Joe is absent that I felt could have been eliminated all together. Or at least shortened. It completely derailed the story, and didn't fit. The beginning, though, and the ending, when Sammy and Joe were together - was entertaining. Sammy is a witty character and had some great lines. He kept the story afloat and moving forward, unlike Joe's character.This book is definitely for folks who love comic books. They talk quite a bit about the comic book greats throughout this book and mix true history into the story of these fictional writers. My husband - who is a total nerd for these types of stories - is going to read it next so I will be anxious to hear his take on it.
