This is a beautifully written book. I am not yet finished with it but I recommend all of Starhawks books. She is a revolutionary writer and thinker. The main message so far... Get deeply connected to the earth... know your local place, and preserve, conserve, protect and love the 4 sacred things The earth for which provides all of our abundance, the air that is the very breath we all breathe, water, that flows through the earth as it flows through our veins and fire/sun/life force that ignites everything into being.

Starhawk is always a good read, but its easy to get that west coast feel. I didnt relate her outdoors with mine in the deep south where we hunt, fish and log for a living. No big protesters around here, our lawmakers know how close we are to the outdoors and due their best to save the land for our children and keep it safe. I do like her books and would recommend EARTH PATH to my friends .FIVE STARS

I started out my spiritual life with Starhawk. Her Spiral Dance was very influential. This book, The Earth Path, was also enlightening and helpful. I learned how to connect yourself with the earth so fully that you can walk in the woods without making a sound. This must have been how the Native peoples of America were able to sneak up on their enemies without being heard. They made themselves one with the earth. I can do it too. I'm talking even in crunchy autumn leaves. I can walk without making a sound.

Modern Paganisms like to call themselves "nature religions" because their key metaphors are rooted in the cycles of the seasons and the natural world, but as one friend of mine says, "Sometimes it feels more like we're living-room carpet religions." If you're feeling like you're more in touch with the dust-bunnies under your furniture than with the elements, plants and animals in your environment, this book is for you. Actually, this book is for anyone who lives on this planet and is concerned about its fate. Informed both by science and spirituality, this beautifully-written book takes the reader through the four elements plus spirit in search of our deepest ancestral roots (bacteria, anyone?)and the intricate systems of interdependence between all the life-forms and elements on earth. It will inspire you to connect (or re-connect) with nature and perceive its inherent mystery, sacredness and magic.

I would actually give this book a 4.8--it's just that the print is on the small side, so it was difficult for me to read even with my reading glasses. Worth it, though. Very in-depth perspectives on our role hand-in-hand with the Earth.

When you've had a career as long and as illustrious as Starhawk, you are bound to end up saying some similar things. This is a great example of that. While in one respect she is sticking to her dedication throughout her career as maintaining a popular, yet descriptive approach to her writing, if you're already well aware of what she has to say there will be no major surprises. The distinctive feature about this book compared to many of her others is its emphasis on direct environmentalism and permaculture. While it is overtly spiritual in its presentation, she wants the reader to be full aware that there are things that everyone can do every day and all the time to actively not only increase their connection to nature, but also to preserve nature. In that respect I think she succeeds in this book, and I would still recommend it to someone interested in spiritual environmentalism.

This book takes you from start to finish to running a successful martial arts school. It's very expansive and leaves no stone left unturned.

Pretty much tells you everything that you need to know. Not much more to say then that. Very good book on starting and running a business and helps you on aspects of a school that you may have not thought of as well.

This is the first resource I found that is beneficial to the part-time martial arts business school owner. (The only one available...I think)

Abu Atallah is the founder and CEO of European Training Centre and a pastor, professor, and missionary with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He was born and raised in Egypt, and after his conversion was involved with Campus Crusade at Cairo University. In 1979 he came to the United States, where he attended the Urbana missions conference and heard GodÂ’s call to minister to his people. I've browsed so many shell books and websites on Florida-but this one is absolutely perfect. It is well written and perfectly organized! Great work, Witheringtons!

My wife and I really enjoy the beaches of Florida, and while I concentrate more on the fishing aspect, my wife is a rabid sheller. She has the first edition of this book, but was excited to find out there was a second edition. This is a high quality book, filled with pictures and identification guides. It's well worth having for even the casual beachgoer. Highly recommend!

I like that this booklet is packed with info, decent pix, and is perfectly sized for taking along on a beach adventure. Author is knowledgeable about nomenclature system, but relates well for those of us who just want a summary of ID, lifecycle and ecosystem niche of the shells representing animals found. Awesome that he and wife found a way to map out areas of FL coastline to find each species. Great book.

This is a very easy to use and comprehensive book about the shells I find right uere on our Florida beaches! I bought one for my great nephew age 6. He is entralled with shells and is learnin all the names!

I am grateful for Dr. Weil for his just anger at the denial of aging, so prevalent in America. He excoriates the popular face-lifting, whose only purpose is to hide the age of person, and whose result is often a "plastic" immobile face. Dr. Weil also explains why young people run away from the old and the elderly--they are terrified of their own future fate, visible in the faces and bodies of the older people. I wish the good doctor talked more about the isolation of the aging, which is the elephant not many talk about. Especially I wish he talked about the isolation of aging women. While aging men succeed in dating younger women, aging women often fail to attract men who often measure a woman's attractiveness only by her external appearance.

Andrew Weil's book on "Healthy Aging" helped me to understand better how I can contribute towards my own aging process through simple accessible easy lifestyle changes while providing the science behind each recommendation. He made me understand that we are not slaves to our genes, but by changing our environment, through lifestyle changes, we can influence the genes that life served us. This to say that we can change some aspects of our make-up to push us towards a place of aging more gracefully and healthily. Hence, our destiny is in our own hands! We owe it to no one but ourselves to be happy, healthy and wealthy!

If you are over 50 and you haven't read this book you should.Dr. Weil appears to be spiritual not religious so keep that in mind as you read. He comments quite a bit on societies perception of aging. Hes decidedly NOT "anti-aging" and appears to believe that we should embrace aging and I fully agree. He addresses our American cultures aversion to getting old while many other cultures hold their aged in much higher reverence.Definitely worth a read. I don't agree with some of the things he says, but overall I consider Dr. Weil to be my health and fitness Guru.

I love Andrew Weil's website and I think very highly of his emphasis on healthy eating and nutrition, so I decided to pick up a couple of his books. This one is "just what the doctor ordered." The first half of the book is mainly devoted to theories about how to slow down the aging process. He discusses stem cell research and how embryonic stem cells might be able to grow new tissues and new organs, but it doesn't slow down the aging process. He also warns that multiplying new cells might also increase the risk for cancer.Weil also states that there is no evidence that eating fruits and vegetables and yogurt extend the length of life as much as it helps the quality of the life that we have. He also discusses HGH and mentions the bad side effects along with good news like increased muscle tone, better sex drive, etc. But none of these things amounts to a fountain of youth.He also mentions botox injections and restricted calorie diets and other anti-aging medicines, but none are proven to help. He finally suggests that we age gracefully by taking care of the body that we have the best that we can. He recommends the anti-inflammatory diet, which is heavy on fruits and vegetables (especially those with anti-oxidant properties), omega 3's (walnuts and salmon), white tea and green tea, and grains and legumes. Weil also recommends exercise (30 minutes a day) eight hours of sleep, relaxation/meditation, etc.But my favorite chapter in the book is when he talks about the value of aging. He notes that cheese is often better when it is aged, as is wine, whiskey, and even trees are beautiful when they are older. In the same way, people often are wiser and more beautiful on the inside, and so we shouldn't be so afraid of aging, even though there is good and bad associated with it.This is a very good book, and I highly recommend it.

On of the most informative books on mindful aging. Dr. Weil's philosophy of life is the backdrop for his sound, logical recommendations on how to age "successfully." Most folks give little thought to aging until it is too late and they are overweight and plagued with health challenges. This book will change one's thinking and gives specific ways to reverse these problems. Although this book was published 10 years ago, the information was cutting edge at the time. It is all very relevant. I keep it near my TV and read sections during the commercials. It plants kernels of wisdom each day.The book is a super value! It has the information to change the senior years of your life!!!

If you want to read the REALITY of aging well, this is a MUST read. On my short list of best health books and that is saying something.

Lots of useful information in this book and an easy read. One does not have to read from front to back; rather one can pick different chapters depending on current interests.

Dr. Andrew Weil's book is a good source of level headed and knowledgeable advice. He cuts through a lot of the different beliefs floating around about what vitamins and supplements are good to take with science--of all things. I found that very helpful. I also enjoyed how he discusses a variety of areas that contribute to healthy aging, spiritual as well as physical. The entire book is permeated by the notion that there is such as thing as healthy aging, which you can influence although life does throw many of us some serious curves. And that aging is not a crime, but can be experienced as the coming to fullness of a fine wine!! If you are thinking of botox, read this first!

Carolyn Meyer's portrayal of Mary Queen of Scots in "The Wild Queen" is a remarkable work of historical fiction. This book digs deep into the thoughts and personality of Mary and her futile struggle to claim the English throne from her "sister" Queen Elizabeth I. Her story is so sad. She became Queen of Scotland as an infant, Queen of France by marriage, and she coveted the title of Queen of England. However, she ended up on the executioner's block. A dark time in history. Highly recommended.

yes, the book is historical fiction of sorts, but I still found it entertaining and informative. I recommend it as an interesting fun read

Carolyn Meyer brings Queen Mary alive in this book, feelings and all, in a wonderful way. It was a most enjoyable and fascinating read.

This YA novel isn't bad, but it isn't as strong as other titles in the series. The action focuses largely on the queen's romantic life and clothes; perhaps the author didn't have enough information (outside of the intrigue and various plots) to flesh out the story and give depth to the character. The Tudor books were better.

This book definitely made me interested in learning more about Mary Queen of Scots. Most everything I have read about her has been from the Tudor perspective, and it was interesting to learn more about her life. Although this is a YA book, it is definitely mature and more appropriate for older teens.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book about Mary Queen of Scots, and it spurred me on to read other accounts of her life. The Wild Queen does take liberties with the relationships of the people in the book, but it is not advertised as historically accurate so read and enjoy!!! Shawnee

I absolutely love Carolyn Meyer and her writing style. I love how all of her books give you a personal first-hand look at these historical women and the challenges they faced.
