Martha McCarthy, Presidential Professor at Loyola Marymount University and Chancellor’s Professor Emeritus at Indiana University, teaches educational law and policy courses. She has authored or coauthored 13 books and more than 300 articles and made frequent presentations on various school law topics and educational leadership programs and faculty members. She has served as President of the Education Law Association (ELA) and the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) and Vice President for Division A of the American Educational Research Association. Among honors, she has received lifetime achievement awards from ELA, UCEA, and the International Council of Professors of Educational Leadership. Her current research focuses on school choice initiatives and First Amendment religion and speech issues. Suzanne Eckes is a professor in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department at Indiana University. Dr. Eckes has published widely about education law issues (e.g., American Educational Research Journal, Berkeley Review of Education, Review of Research in Education, Teachers College Record, Peabody Journal, Educational Policy, Educational Administration Quarterly, and Journal of School Leadership). This text is a must have for administrators and teachers who are seeking clarity in legal literacy. One of my favorite features of the text is that is bolds the most important points regarding the law for a specific law or court case. The authors make a point to bring in relevant and recent cases to serve as examples to enhance understanding. As a teacher who was not required to have a formal law class in undergrad, my former self would praise the ease of read of this book and also the relevance of its contents. This book is helpful to the novice teacher all the way up to the experienced superintendent of schools, and is a great conversation starter and resource for whole group instruction for faculty to learn education law! I highly recommend!

I used this book as part of a course I took on educational law at the graduate level. I absolutely loved the book for its clarity, its relativeness, and the way it was written for an easy read. Besides being extremely interesting, the authors accommodated our educational law history with a thorough review of it that made taking my course much easier.

I reference this book regularly. I am a junior high principal that makes a number of decisions everyday that impact students and teachers. Being legally literate is very important when making such decisions. This book provides very important information that gives you the confidence you need to make informed decisions. Easily accessible to a legal neophyte, it also provides in depth coverage of relevant case law as well as federal and state statutory and constitutional law.

This was technically a re-read for me, but since the first time I read this book was in seventh grade (that's about six years ago) it was like reading it for the first time. The only thing I remembered was that I liked it a lot, and that the satyrs were funny. Neither of those facts changed.Fablehaven is about Kendra and Seth, a brother and sister who go to stay part of the summer with their rather reclusive grandfather (they're grandmother is mysteriously absent). While there they discover that not all is what it seems and that they're grandparents run a place called Fablehaven- a haven for the magical creatures. Very few things there are safe, and Kendra and Seth have a lot to learn if they're ever going to be the caretakers.This is one of those books I think everyone should read. I know it's a middle grade book, but like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson it is just as enjoyable for older readers. For one, it doesn't "talk down" to the readers. It treats everyone like a knowledgable reader and the mystery and plot have enough twists and turns for anyone to enjoy. It kept me on the edge of my seat. It also completely transported me to the world of Fablehaven, and the setting was so pervasive I found myself daydreaming about it in my spare time.A major plus for this book was the two main characters. While Kendra is the protagonist for most of the story, Seth does get a bit of spotlight. They're both super realistic, actually acting their age (she's in eighth grade, he's in sixth) in many ways without being too immature. I will admit that Seth did become a bit annoying, since he causes quite a few problems, but I'm fairly certain this will allow readers to really watch him grow up over the course of the series. The best part about them was their relationship- they acted like real siblings! I cannot count the number of times I've found a sibling relationship to so closely mirror the one I have with my brother. It was so refreshing to see the regular bickering and teasing without making either of them seem like a brat. It also allowed me to connect a ton with Kendra, who's a very likable heroine.So I'd definitely recommend this to everyone. It's perfect for fans of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, for sure. It's really just one of the best middle grade novels I've read in a while, and I can't wait to read many, many more in this series (which has, thankfully, been completed so I won't have to wait between novels).

Kendra and Seth must spend a week with their grandparents when Mom and Dad are called away unexpectedly. They do not know these grandparents very well and the kids are beyond annoyed that they are being left with them. The house is beautiful and the yard is amazing, but there is something strange about this place. The kids learn that they are spending this week on one of the most important preserves for magical creatures and their grandfather is the caretaker. In the woods beyond the yard live creatures great and small, good and evil. After a series of dangerous events, Kendra and Seth need to take chances on which creatures they can trust to help them while avoiding those that will hurt them.I absolutely love to drift off into a world of young-adult, fantasy fiction from time to time. They are the perfect remedy after a long, drawn-out read. It is hard to find a series that has a good balance of worthwhile writing and youthful creativity. I was directed to Fablehaven awhile back, but had my doubts. Once I finally got started, I flew through the book and was entertained throughout (I did take one exception with the constant and blatant disregard for authority from Seth, but I see it was necessary to move the story along). I am excited about this magical world created by Brandon Mull. I do not like to read any series back-to-back, but I look forward to reading book 2 soon.

Fablehaven is one of my favorite fantasy series and as such I was eager to take a look at this activity book related to the series. The book does not disappoint. The book is full of secret codes, recipes to try out, and your own preserve to create. Readers who enjoy interactive books that inspire imaginative play are bound to enjoy this book. Writing, drawing, coloring, designing, and word games punctuate this fun book. Hours of creative enjoyment are contained in this book. The sheer variety of different activities and games makes this a great book for both individual and group activities. One could even use the book to set up a Fablehaven party to celebrate the series or the upcoming sequel series that comes out in March 2017. If you have a Fablehaven lover in your house, this book is a must.

This book was one of my favorite books. The author is Brandon Mull. If you have ever read any of his other series you will love this one😃!I would have given it a 4 ½ star rating if that was how this was set up. My least favorite part was that the cover looks different than the scene in the book that it comes from.I did say that I liked it though, and I do. It was funny and explains Kendra and Seth’s relationship as sister and brother really well👍. It was fun to find all of the little connections to the Five Kingdoms.I recommend that you read his series in the order of Beyonders, Five Kingdoms, Fablehaven, then Dragonwatch to fully appreciate the connections. Also, after reading Fablehaven(book 1) flip to the back of the last page and scan over it😉. I’d say the funniest thing in the book was when they had to give a cave troll a massage in exchange for information, and I’d better not say what the most exciting part is😏.I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mythical creatures, adventures, thrilling tales, mysteries, or, as I already said, other series by Brandon Mull.

Bodnar and Cohen do a great job translating the myriad of content pieces on social media into crisp “how-to’s” for B2B lead generation and lead nurturing.The book, in my opinion, qualifies academically as a supplementary reading for undergraduate level programs based on the following:1) The authors provide a broad perspective of how a sorely neglected B2B domain can benefit from social media.2) The “how-to” approach and helpful tips provides undergraduate students with a useful hands-on tutorial.3) Both authors have exceptional expertise in marketing automation and inbound marketing.4) Unlike many other books that scatter their functional perspectives across many marketing objectives, this one is focused and organized around B2B lead generation.

I took a chance on this book, going against my better judgment. I usually never buy a book with only glowing reviews. So hopefully, this objective review will help some avoid the same mistake.I bought this book because of Jon Yoffie's review. Read that review. It's informative. But don't buy the book.And the bit on calulating ROI is bogus. Here it is. Lifetime Customer Value MINUS Cost of acquiring a customer EQUALS: ROI.There's a whole lot more to calulating marketing ROI than that. Cost per lead, Cost per sale, etc. Look at any good direct marketing book for that.The main problem with this book it is vague and general. It seems to be written more for corporate types. So if you are an entrepreneur or small business owner I would definitely skip it.You don't need a book to tell you to use content to drive traffic to your site.Also, I usually never comment on production values...but this is a hard cover book. Nice on the outside. Ashame that the publisher was so cheap with the paper quality and print on the inside of the book.I'm returning this one.

Not bad, maybe a bit dated as digital/social trends move fast. Definitely some relevant connectivity for the B2B Digital Marketer none the less. Provides a framework and lens to look at your GTM strategy and how digital and social can play the right role for you.

I've read a number of bad social media books lately - this is NOT one of them. This book is not a rush-to-market, try to capitalize on a trend, offering. The authors have actually spent years learning social media marketing and freely give of their experiences. If you've been asleep for the past 5 years, just woke up, and realized that something has changed marketing-wise you're right. Here's your guidebook to a new world of marketing. BTW, it's not just for B2B. Many of the principles apply to B2C as well. If you're wondering what this Social Media stuff is all about, even if you consider yourself up-to-speed, you should still read The B2B Social Media Book. Thanks to Kipp and Jeffrey.

These guys get it, Bodnar and Cohen put a step by step road map to cutting sales cost, condensing the sales cycle and generating leads via blogging ,Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, email and more. Do not be the last person in your industry to read this book. Chapter 15, "10 B2B Social Media Roadblocks" is worth the price of book by itself, "legal wants full approval -of everything"' sound familiar. Find ways to make this roadblock work for you in Chapter 15, pg 185.

If you are a B2B marketer and you are looking for a book that is going to improve marketing results then look no further.Before reading Kipp Bodnar's The B2B Social Media Book I thought, like many, that social media was better suited for B2C companies than B2B companies. However, after reading Kipp's book I can fully admit that I was completely wrong. Unlike many social media books, Kipp does not inundate his readers with a bunch of social media theories. Instead he provides his readers with very actionable steps that they can implement immediately improve their social presence.I highly recommend that you add this book to your library. You won't be disappointed.

The B2B world overall seems to doubt the potential of social media marketing, but the authors address that issue in the first chapter, and explain why B2B business are better equipped for social media already than their B2C counterparts. The book identifies and explains several social media opportunities, and at the end of each chapter there are action items to help you down your path.I'm very satisfied with the purchase, and I'm already putting together a holistic social media plan for the CPA firm I work for!
