Full disclosure: I'm writing this from a biased point of view, because I spent five years in and out of most of the buildings described in this wonderful book.When I read about this book and saw a sample of its photographs, I knew I had to own it. I wasn't disappointed. The book starts with the Victorian architectural beginnings of Texas A&M, follows the tumultuous early years, and then strides into a building-by-building exposition of the beautiful design details. Close-up photos bring out many details that I remembered, but had not thought about for decades.The overall treatment in the book, giving historical narrative interspersed with bright, crystal-clear photos, is masterful.I don't often buy large-format books, but this one gets an honored place on my coffee table!Well done!

Loving Texas A & M University which dates from 1875, ARCHITECTURE THAT SPEAKS is a lovely book to grace our cocktail table as well as for us to enjoy reading. As an interior designer and wife of a "Texas Aggie," as well as a personal friend of one of the co-authors, I am delighted to have this book with lovely photographs of some of the historical buildings on campus and to read of their history.

My grandson loved the book as he is getting his master's degree in Architecture. He is a Texas Aggie. Thank you.

I guess I've known Prof. Woodcock off-on since the mid-70s beginning with Masters in Architecture pursuits where he always has been considered highly respected in at least this department if not others as well. This has always been the go-to expert for historical opinons, interpretations, research, collaboration, preservation and even at times to employ for such endeavors ... not that he only performs this specialty, it's just difficult to find an equal in this portion of Texas for historic pieces.I would suggest that to ask someone of this great statue what is notable would be priceless. To have it spoon fed, illustrated, photographed and narrated is beyond even that. In a word ... WOW.

I'm an Aggie who also loves old buildings. This book combines two of my passions into one. It has amazing photos of buildings on campus, and I love the detailed descriptions of each one. The photos must have been taken in the summer so there weren't hundreds of students in the background! Just a beautiful book. Well done.

I teach the middle schoolers class at our church. It's time to get a few new bibles. This one is really pretty. I had a hard time finding images and thought I would share. I like the introductions to each book. The maps are nice and easy to read. Great charts and images scattered throughout.

I love the idea of this Bible, and the illustrations and diagrams are cute and just what I was looking for. But the font is tiny, much smaller than my adult study Bible. And the font is very thin in some places (unlike an Arial which has consistent thickness throughout each letter stroke). It's also hard to read because you can see the writing from other pages on it. I bought it for my 6yo son, and I'm hoping it will work ok. I let him open the Amazon box so I couldn't really take it back.

This is a very nice hard cover Bible but it is not a kids Bible just the cover. There are not many pictures to call it a visual. I got it for my son who has autism because he does better with visual. He loves the Bible. The words were small print hard for me to read. Its just another Bible nothing extra special but we were happy not to return it. We needed a new NIV Bible & this was a nice starter one. After buying a giant print Bible for my other son I would recommend Giant print so much easier to read.

I guess I had the wrong expectation that it would be more of a picture Bible. It is actually a Bible with a few pictures on the side.

Just right for kids. Our 9-year-old grandson loves it.

I bought this for my grandchildren. The illustrations and explanations together were very well done for children and as an adult it was very interesting considering being one for myself.

Brought this bible for my nephews. They love the illustrations, breakdown explanations as well as the pictures.

My 8 year old son loves his new Bible. He's excited to read it and read the additional content and is proud to take it to church and show his Sunday school teacher.

Young Fiona Hughes and her younger sister, Ailish, loved to hear their father's "grand stories," but their favorite was the one of how their parents met. Mick passed the lace parlor each day at lunch and took a liking to a young lass who worked there. None of the other girls, however, would tell him where she lived. One day he noticed a bit of fine lace tied to a bush and then another a bit farther away tied to a tree and then another, and another. The trail led straight to Annie's house and the couple's eventual marriage. Annie taught her fine skills to Fiona, a talent that would prove both profitable and lifesaving. When the local mill closed, the family left Ireland to work for a wealthy family in Chicago; in exchange for their work, their passage was taken care of, so they received no pay. Fiona's fine lace was beautiful, and there was a market for it, so she made lace while her parents had second jobs in the evenings, including the night of the Great Fire. Abandoning their home for a safer place that fateful night, Fiona and Ailish remembered their father's story and left a trail of lace to direct their parents to them. This is Polacco at her best. I have all her books. My grandchildren choose her books to read or to listen to over anything else. If you do not have ALL of her books in your library, what are you waiting for here?

Wonderful and appropriate for preschool to third grade (4 to 8 yrs of age). Purchased for an elementary school library as an honorific for my mother-in-law by my wife (a working speech and language clinician) in consultation with a team of elementary media specialists.

Excellent book for cultural diversity curriculum.

I am a lace maker so finding Ms. Polacco's book was a delight. It is a very interesting story as well.

Excellent book for baby food. My children are grown however I got this for other reasons too. Great ideas for even an older person who has trouble chewing. I wished I had this when my children were younger

This is a really solid cookbook. The recipes sound delicious, and I like that the author teaches you how to make things ahead of time. It does have a couple of flaws, though. The main flaw is that the recipes, at least those in the single-ingredient purees section (the only ones I've tried so far), are not very clear, particularly on how much water to add when blending. For example, many recipes say to add the steamed vegetable/fruit and "the steaming water" to the blender. To me, this means that I need to add ALL of the steaming water. The same recipes also list "1/4 cup of water, plus more if needed" in the ingredients section - I haven't figured out where the 1/4 cup of water is supposed to come into play, as it isn't described in the recipe steps. As a result, a couple of the recipes made double the amount that they were supposed to and ended up very watery. Now I know to only add as much of the steaming water as you want, depending on what you would like the texture of the puree to be. I just think this could have been more clear. That said, as I mentioned above, the recipes sound really yummy, and I look forward to my little one graduating to the next food stages!

Great book for easy and versatile baby food! Easy to follow with a lot of useful information. I love how many of the early, pureed recipes can be frozen and then used for the later recipes. Being able to freeze baby food has been such a time-saver! It's so convenient to have one book that can span from infancy to toddlerhood - will be using this for years to come!

Great recipes. I love it. The recipes work great with the pouch system that you can get on Amazon.You can make a great variety of meals, snacks and desserts then you can just put them in the pouches and freeze them. The recipes are really good.

This book was not helpful for me. Mostly different kinds of purees which I did it in my own for my first. I was expecting a lot more variety.

I bought 2 different baby food-making books and this was by far my favorite. It tells you the age to start introducing which food combinations, and what tastes best with each combination. I love it and its helped tremendously with my son.

This is not a complete solutions manual.Included are worked, step by step solutions to only every other odd numbered question.Frankly, I thought I was purchasing a complete student study guide and solutions manual. I can do just as well with the internet for free, though with a bit more hassle.

I inspected the book. I don't know Calculus as of now. So I cannot give a really good review. I based my star rating as I compared this book to Giancolli's Physics book. Looks comparable.

I can only give this book a 3 because it is such a brief history of the era. I think it is certainly factually correct and hits many of the highlights but so much of details have been left out. To get a really good read on the events leading up to and the end of this fascinating time in our country's history, buy Last Call by Daniel Okrent. Available at Amazon.com.

This book was hard to read and although very short, it went on and on about similar issues. I would not recommend this book.

Trying to research the Prohibition era, and this book was a great overall reference.

Good book for middle school or high school students. Easy and fast to read.

My students loved the book. One kid actually snuck it out of the classroom to finish reading it at home.

A short read that gives a brief history. Guess I was looking for something with more detail. I should have checked the page count before I purchased.

As a teacher, I found this book to be not only interesting, but useful for use in the classroom as a supplement to the textbook.
